Conecta Miami Arts feels it is eminently necessary, due to the high index of emerging Hispanic actors interested in pursuing an acting career, to provide these budding artists with the tools to create and self-manage their own projects so that they can connect and find their place in the current market of producers in the city of Miami.
For this we have designed ArtTalks Theater Lab, a series of presentations that encourage actors developing their craft the right tools to find their voice and learn how to create and promote their own work in a professional way. This project is rooted in the collaboration that will take place between emerging artists and their established and professional counterparts who are actively working in the industry as actors.
ArtTalks Theatre Lab is a three-phased project that begins with a masterclass with four professional actors who will interact with the selected participants sharing some of their techniques, coaching them in how to chose and develop a monologue that is right for them, and then diving into a direct discussion with the participants where the young actors are able to ask each of the professional actors questions. This will be filmed adhering to all the necessary health protocols and showcased as a live stream open to the public.
The second phase of ArtTalks will consist of a selection of 10 of the best artistic proposals from the young participants who will have a 6-week period to develop their own work through one-on-one coaching sessions with Conecta’s award-wining Artistic Director, Neher Jacqueline Briceño. The project will culminate with a showcase of the workshopped pieces in a 2-day presentation that will be free and open to the public and where local directors, promoters and producers will be invited to witness our young Hispanic actors.
