In collaboration with the acclaimed Adriana Barraza Acting Studio, Conecta: Miami Arts assisted in the development of a workshop series exclusively in Spanish geared towards children, teenagers and young adults. During a span of three months, we offered a number of workshops covering a range of acting styles carefully tailored for those interested in theatre, film and television acting in Spanish. The purpose of these varied workshops was to expose young Hispanic acting students to different acting platforms and provide them with the necessary tools to obtain acting roles, both on stage and in front of the camera. Particular workshops identified and connected emerging artists so as to encourage, facilitate and support their continuous and evolving relationship with the arts.
Each workshop series culminated in a final performance ranging from live theatrical productions to short films. This collection of performances featured a cast of young and emerging artists who were joined by established theatre and film professionals behind the cameras, achieving a fruitful learning experience and collaborative artistic process between emerging and established artists. It is of utmost importance to provide a dedicated program that will establish connections between different generations in order to shape the generation arts practitioners that is yet to come.
