Conecta Miami Arts is collaborating with the Arsht Center in producing the outdoor community programming surrounding Buena Vista Social Club Musical ™ to celebrate Miami’s vibrant artistic community while creating an immersive and festive experience for audiences before each performance.
The programming showcases some of Miami’s most accomplished musicians and performers, highlighting the city’s rich cultural landscape and its deep connections to Cuban and Latin American music. Featuring internationally recognized artists alongside beloved local ensembles, the lineup reflects the diversity, excellence, and creative energy that define Miami’s music scene.
- Yissy García – GRAMMY Award-nominated Cuban drummer, composer, and bandleader internationally acclaimed for blending Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz and contemporary music.
- Cortadito – Miami’s premier acoustic ensemble dedicated to preserving and celebrating the traditional sounds of Cuban son.
- Magela Herrera – internationally acclaimed Cuban flutist, composer, and vocalist whose work fuses jazz, Afro-Cuban, and world music.
- Leslie Cartaya – two-time Latin GRAMMY-nominated Cuban-American singer-songwriter whose music bridges traditional Cuban roots with contemporary Latin sounds.
- 6Jam – Miami-based band dedicated to preserving the style, sonority, and recording methods of early Afro-Cuban jazz music.
- Sonlokos – one of Miami’s most celebrated Cuban bands, known for its energetic performances rooted in traditional Cuban dance music.
- Pedrito Calvo Jr. – acclaimed Cuban singer, composer, and bandleader carrying forward the musical legacy of his father, legendary Los Van Van vocalist Pedrito Calvo, with performances rooted in salsa, timba, and the rich traditions of Cuban popular music.
- Mr. Pauer – Latin GRAMMY-nominated DJ, producer, and innovator celebrated for his dynamic fusion of Latin rhythms, electronic music, and global sounds.
- OKAN – the internationally acclaimed Cuban duo of Elizabeth Rodríguez and Maggie Ayala, winners of the 2024 JUNO Award for Global Music Album of the Year. Their music blends Afro-Cuban traditions with jazz, folk, and contemporary influences, creating a powerful celebration of Cuban heritage through a modern lens.
- Humberto Ibarra – Percussionist, composer, and arranger whose vibrant sound blends Afro-Colombian and Afro-Cuban rhythms with salsa, jazz, and world music, and who has performed and recorded with artists including Shakira, Joe Arroyo, and Cristian Castro
- Julio Montalvo – internationally acclaimed Cuban trombonist, composer, and bandleader whose dynamic sound blends Afro-Cuban music, Latin jazz, salsa, and contemporary influences.
