Conecta: Miami Arts coordinated all educational activities for Flamenco Festival and the Ballet Nacional de España which was held at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. Educational activities included traditional Flamenco dance masterclasses and the opportunity to attend an invited dress rehearsal followed by a Q&A with the company’s Director. There were two masterclasses, one for beginners and one for intermediate/advance students, for dancers who had the opportunity to learn from Sara Arévalo, one of the top dancers for the Ballet Nacional de España, one of the most respected national dance companies of Spain. These classes were geared towards adult dance students. The second educational activity was comprised of approximately 70 students who attended an invited dress rehesarsal with the entire Ballet Nacional de España company – a unique experience that allowed students to witness the behind-the-scenes work that goes into preparing for the opening night performance of an international touring dance company. This activity was geared towards selected young and adult dance students who also had the exclusive opportunity to meet the award-winning Director Antonio Najarro, who explained his vision for the company and engaged in an intimate Q&A session with attending students.
