Conecta Miami Arts feels it is eminently necessary, due to the high index of Spanish-speaking young people interested in pursuing an acting career, to provide these young artists with the tools to create and self-manage their own projects, so that they can connect and find their place in the current market of producers in the city of Miami. For this we have designed ArtTalks Traveling Theater Lab, a series of presentations in Spanish that will provide young Hispanic actors the right tools to generate their own content, find their voice and promote their own work and ideas in a professional way. This project is centered on the collaboration that will occur between young and emerging Hispanic artists and their established and professional counterparts who are actively working in the industry as Hispanic actors.
ArtTalk Traveling Theatre Lab is a three-phased project that begins with three separate presentations of monologues by three well-known Hispanic professional actors, followed by an open discussion moderated by a renowned Spanish-speaking actress between workshop artists and young participants. The second phase of the project will consist in a subsequent selection of the 11 best artistic proposals from the young participants who will then have a 3-week period to develop their own work through personalized one-on-one coaching sessions with Conecta’s award-wining Artistic Director. Finally, the project will culminate with a showcase of the workshopped pieces in a 2-day presentation that is open to the public and where local directors, promoters and producers will be invited to witness our young Hispanic actors.
