The Porch is the ultimate pop-up lounge featuring interdisciplinary performances: music, poetry, theatre, visual arts, comedy, spoken word, film and of course dynamic literary activities! The Porch is a space that celebrates collaboration between influential local arts and cultural organizations, as well as established and emerging local artists who keep the magic in the Magic City!
Nighttime events will take place from Sunday, November 11 through Friday, November 16, each with a special theme and flair ranging from Monday night’s celebration of Caribbean culture, Tuesday’s multi-faceted showcase of BLCK Family’s Freedom Sessions to Thursday’s good-old-fashioned-down-home murder and mayhem noir fiction readings! Daytime events will take place during the Fair’s main street fair weekend, Saturday the 17 and Sunday the 18, featuring some of the hottest musical acts the likes of Jahfe, the Remyz, Aroze Twobadou, Sekajipo for the People, Patrick & the Swayzees and more! And make sure to not miss the Fair’s Opening Night Festivities at the Porch on Sunday November 11th with a night featuring Miami Poetry Collective, an Exquisite Corpse activation, free community barbecue and the one and only Latin-Grammy nominated Mr. Pauer with his powerhouse Electropico live set!

ABOUT THE MIAMI BOOK FAIR
The Miami Book Fair will open Sunday November 12 with the popular Evenings With… series, featuring six nights of readings and discussions with noted authors from the United States and around the world. On Friday, the Street Fair gets under way. The highlight of the Street Fair is the Festival of Authors, with more than 500 authors reading and discussing their work, including a robust IberoAmerican & ReadCarribean Authors Program. Thousands of South Florida schoolchildren will help kick off the Street Fair, making the trip downtown Friday to hear authors and participate in Children’s Alley activities, including musical acts, arts-and-crafts, storytelling and readings by children’s book authors. Comics and graphic novels are once again featured, and a new section just for kids and teens, as well as presentations over the weekend by renowned graphic novelists and illustrators.During Street Fair weekend, November 17-19, more than 250 publishers and booksellers exhibit and sell books, with special features like the antiquarians, who showcase signed first editions, original manuscripts and other collectibles.
The first Miami Book Fair, founded by Miami Dade College and community partners, took place in 1984. Since then, it has been recognized as the nation’s finest literary festival.
